Ashrai was founded in 1991, focusing on the development of Adibashi (tribal) communities in the Barind tracks, in the northwest of Bangladesh. Ashrai follows a holistic approach to addressing human poverty, reducing income poverty, and establishing the rights of the Adibashis in society.

Our activities
At Present, ASHRAI has been implementing Micro-Finance Program, Community Managed Micro-finance, Income and Food Security Project, Employment and Family Income Program, Child Education, and Institution Development Program, ASHRAI Engineering College (Affiliated with Rajshahi University) and ASHRAI Technical Training Centre (ATTC). ATTC obtained approval as a technical training center in 2017 by Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB), Code No: 23357 & affiliated to Register Training Organization (RTO). It is one of the key institutions through which many dropped-out students and underprivileged young people are provided Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET), Entrepreneurship, and Skills Development programs with skills training and facilitated to avail job opportunities after the training
Success Stories



Sharmi Khatun from thalta paba, Rajshahi, comes from a humble farming background. After her divorce, she became the sole earner, supporting her young daughter and funding her brother’s education. In 2024, she enrolled in a 3-month SEO training at Ashrai Technical Tranning Center under the ILO–ProGRESS Project, followed by a 1-month internship at RAM Rajshahi. She gained hands-on skills in SEO, Google tools, digital marketing, and communication. With Ashrai’s job placement support, she joined Othoba.com as a Call Sales Marketing Executive and stepped confidently into a new career. Today, She runs her household independently, and is building a brighter future for her family. Sharmi Khatun’s journey is a remarkable example of how training, determination, and opportunity can empower a woman to rise above challenges and become self-reliant. Through the ILO–ProGRESS Project, the training and job placement support provided by Ashrai Technical Training Center.
Monirul Islam, a fish farmer from Godagari in northern Bangladesh, once lived in poverty with only a single leased pond. Life was uncertain, and hunger was frequent—but he never gave up hope. His turning point came when he connected with Ashrai’s Micro-Enterprise Program. With his first loan of Tk. 1,00,000, Monirul invested in fish farming equipment and started his journey oward self-reliance. Over time, and with dedication and proper planning, he received subsequent loans in eight phases, including Tk. 2,00,000, 4,00,000, 8,00,000, and 9,00,000.
Supported by Ashrai’s training, field guidance, and continuous encouragement, his business grew rapidly. Today, Monirul owns 21 fish ponds and is recognized as a successful, self-reliant entrepreneur who inspires other fish farmers in his community. In his own words: “The very first loan from Ashrai changed my life. They believed in my determination and dreams—and that trust helped me reach where I am today.”
Md. Aman Ullah, who grew up in a small, remote village in Rangamati, faced a life overshadowed by poverty and uncertainty. Dreams felt distant, and hope often seemed out of reach. Everything changed when he joined ASHRAI ATTC’s Graphic Design Training, where he discovered his passion, honed his creativity, and gained the confidence to believe in himself. Through dedication, hard work, and persistence, Aman transformed his skills into a career. Today, he works as a Lead Graphics & UI/UX Designer at BSquare in Dhaka, earning Tk. 30,000 per month—a milestone he once thought impossible.
Looking back, Aman says, "ASHRAI gave me not just skills, but the courage to change my life. It turned my uncertainty into confidence and gave me the chance to dream again."
